My research focuses on the evolutionary processes involved in microbial speciation. These include horizontal gene transfer between unrelated taxa, hybridization, as well as vegetative compatibility and sexual reproduction. Our experiments therefore typically involve conventional genetic and microbiological procedures, as well as contemporary genomics approaches.
