Dr Osmond Mlonyeni

Manager: Innovation Africa @UP

 

Osmond is the Project and General Manager for the Innovation Africa @UP. A University of Pretoria (UP) Research Park envisaged to develop a national and pan-African research investment platform initially focused on the future of Agriculture and Forestry. Previously, he has served as a Manager responsible for partnerships and programs for innovation at the Future Africa institute at UP. Osmond has served as a researcher at the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (FABI) at UP in various capacities such as a research assistant, doctoral candidate and postdoctoral fellow. He has published in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and presented at international and national conferences.

Osmond sits on several committees that are charged with providing strategic leadership to the organisations that he is involved with. Within the university, he serves on the Innovation Africa @UP Steering Committee. Beyond academia, he serves as a Trustee for the Mandela Rhodes Foundation and has served as a Non-Executive Director of State entities. Osmond holds a BSc in Human Genetics, BSc (Hons) in Genetics, MSc in Genetics (with distinction) obtained as a Mandela Rhodes Scholar and Ph.D. in Genetics from UP. He has completed a Business and Management Development Programme (with merit) and a Postgraduate Diploma in General Management from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). Osmond is a Mandela Rhodes Scholar, Golden Key society alumnus and Horst Köhler Fellow for the 65th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.
